Revolutionary Technology, Revolutionary Design
OUR TECHNOLOGY
01 / FAST
Roto-Slide incorporates the reliability of mud-motor drilling with the control of rotary-steerable technology. With fewer trips for motor breakdowns, increased ROP with the removal of sliding, Roto-Slide will greatly reduce drilling cycle times.
02 / EFFICIENT
With the use of an AC Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), Roto-Slide has extremely precise control of motor speed and torque. This results in less wear on bits and improved borehole quality.
03 / COMPREHENSIVE
Roto-Slide has integrated Drill-IT© software to provide an automated closed loop directional drilling system. In real-time the system provides communications with MWD/Roto-Slide, directional drilling performance analysis, steering directives and Slips-to-Slips hands free directional driller.
Roto-Slide Demonstration
OUR STORY
Roto-Slide Directional Technology, LLC was formed in 2016 with its test facilities located in Tomball, Texas. After two years of design, manufacturing and programing, the first prototype rotary steerable mud motor system was completed and ready for testing. A complete test facility was constructed to replicate a drilling rig including tanks, 1000 hp mud pumps, top drive, VFD and SCR switches and a dynamometer for measuring reactive mud motor torque values. This one of a kind testing facility allows for testing single or multiple motors at the same time while providing pressure drop, flow rates, rpm data, pulse telemetry and motor torque output all in real time. All systems are fully tested before delivery to location.
The Team
Gary Smith, President & CEO
Gary most recently served as Vice President of Drilling with WildHorse Resources in Houston, Texas. He is a graduate of the University of Texas, Austin with a degree in Civil Engineering. He began his career in 1974 with AMOCO in Andrews, Texas as a Production Engineer and served in many capacities with CMS, KCS and Petrohawk both in west Texas, Houston and South America. After leading the sales effort to divest Petrohawk’s Terryville field to WildHorse Resources, Gary joined WildHorse to develop strategies for drilling horizontal wells.
